Front cover.

I like this front cover because i like the way that the colours make it have a retro look with yellow, red, black and white. I like the image on it showing a performer and the type of performer shows what the music in the magazine is. It also has most of the artists that i like on the front of it which makes it appealing to me. I like the way that they have matched the colour of the picture to design of the magazine. I like the style of font for both the text 'GUITAR' and 'ACOUSTIC POP'S NEW STARS'. The font for guitar looks pretty and neat with a modern touch whereas the other looks more vintage and interesting and i think the mix goes well together. Also i think the layout of the page looks very good and seems to be more like columns. I don't think the page looks very even as on the left side there is lots of big text and the picture is mainly on that side but on the right there is only small writing and not much of the picture so i think it looks a bit odd. But looks and artist, i like this magazine the best as the colours remind me or a retro rock look. The colours used in this are mainly red yellow and black and give off a good rock effect.

I really like the design and layout of this front page and they have also used the main colours of red, black, and white. I like the design of there being two types of banners at the top as it makes it look different and also both tell me completely different things. I like the image as the people really connect with the reader and the main singer is at the front and shows off his importance. It shows that the magazine is going to be big on Biffy Clyro so this will bring in a lot of reader who like him and also there are many more artists on the front page to bring more people in. Having the quotations above his name tell me that its about him and that there is going to be something interesting inside about him. They have also put that there is a free prize inside which will get lots of people buying it as music isn't too cheap at the moment. It is music for Biffy Clyro so will bring in fans and new fans who will want to try out his music so the target audience will be huge. Putting that there is a return of weezer will bring in older fans too.  I like the way that there are smaller images on the page so that there is more to look at. I also like that it tell me that there is something exclusive inside and this brings me to want to know what it is. Although i think the page is a bit busy i works for the rock look that they are going for. I like the style of font for the magazine name 'kerrang' because it is like smashed class and gives it a cool look. By telling me that there is posters inside is also like getting something for free so makes me want it more and i think that magazines with posters in are always good. This magazine is what looks like to be more of a 'F' angle.

This front cover also uses the colours red white and black and a again it looks very effective. I like that this magazine is more neat and look more presentable. I like the way that the image is linked with the name of the magazine by it looking like he has smashed it with his guitar. I don't like the way that there seems to be some sort on a contents on the front page as it kind of makes it not look professional i think a contents page should be on its own. Even though other magazine have told me what is going to be in the magazine they have not listed it down one side of the front cover. I like that they have used the main singer of muse on the front colour so that people can recognise it and it will bring in a lot of people. Also by bring the Beatles into a magazine brings in a massive amount of reader from different ages as they are one of the biggest known bands and being able to find out more facts about them is what people want. The way they have highlighted the '200' in red and 'the Beatles' in white makes them stand out very well. I like the use of red lines in-between each of the subjects on the left side of the magazine. Its splits it up nicely and makes it stand out and look effective. The colour of the main image are also chosen well as the match with all of the colours by him having black trousers on with a white t-shirt and a styled red and black jacket, at all mixes and i think it is very well presented. I can tell that it is a good magazine as the banner on the top says that it is the UK's biggest music magazine so that will automatically make me think that it is going to be good. Because the image on the man is smashing the 'Q' it make the image almost seem 3D so it really stands out from anything normal. This magazine is more of the 'Z' type.

Contents page.

I like this contents page because i like the use of images to give an in site of what the number of that page is going to be about without telling the reader. The text also seems to fit well around all of the images. The use of black, red and white has been used as it stands out. Also the pictures have been chosen well as the colours all mix well together. The contents page seems to be quite in your face so is very eye catching for the reader. There is also not loads of text so it looks easy to follow and read. I like that at the top it tell the reader what issue the magazine is as some people may collect. I like the decoration next to the word features as i think it makes the page look quite artistic and is there for you not to miss when looking at the pictures. I also like the difference in colours between the numbers and text as it gives a good effect off. I do think that there should be a little bit more text on this so i will show more on mine but i think it is presented well with the columns. It is sort of set out like a photo album with the images and looks interesting a personal. It is also quite a messy rock style with a modern touch to it with the colours and the way the columns are. I like the way that under the numbers on the pictures that there s a little sentence of what it is going to be about or a question to get the reader thinking.

Again this has the use of black white and red and looks very effective and strong. I like the way that they have done the 3 types of main image in the middle and i like the way that they have been edited with the colour. It all goes well with the theme colours of black, white, and red by having a black and white photo and red one and a coloured one using the main colours within it. I like the way that the date is at the top with the word 'contents' as i think it look cool and interesting and also having the word 'drummer' as the biggest just shows what sort of music is inside of the magazine. The way the word 'exclusive' is used over half the image makes it looks interesting and as i reader i want to know what about it is exclusive so it draws me into it. The type of font of it also makes it stand out a lot more and by it being on a black background on the biggest image you see it a lot easier. I also like the way that there is only one column of text as it makes the page look interesting and it doesnt look too busy. I also like the way that they have put in a serprate box for what is normally in the magazine so that readers that buy it alot do not have to go over the same thing all of the time. I like the way that the pictures have been matched with numbers just to make it interesting and easier to find and look at. I really like the style of font as it is bold and very easy to read and also catches my eye on what it is about.

This contents page also has the use of the three main colours, black, white and red and again it looks very effective. It is set out in a number of different sized bow shapes and it makes it look very neat and modern. It makes it seem organised and is set out so it is easy to read and that certain things are put together. I am firstly drawn to the picture and the long thick black line above it which tells me what the page is. Also by looking straight at the line draws me to what the magazine features are get me interested. The picture has a use of black and white and quite dull colours to match the page. I can tell that the band in the image will be the main feature pf the magazine by the box that tells me what page it is on being the largest. I  like the way that there is either a quote or lyric from the band too which gives and incite of the sort of text i would be reading. The review box at the bottom is also very clear and it shows that the magazine has variety inside of it. The page looks very neat and well presented and i like the idea of using pictures so that the page does not look boring.

Double page spreads.

The reason i like this double page spread is because it has a sort of old vintage look with a modern twist. This is because the pages look almost dirty and as if they have been out for a while. I also like the blue stripes as they look as though they are meant to be sellotape to hold the page together. But it also matches the colour of the writing and this make you notice the text more. Also by having the lead singers name of the band in a different colour makes it stand out to fans. There are also lots of bands out there like the vaccines which means in brings in a wide audience. I think that this page is more audience towards boys because of the colours and they way that it is set out so therefore it draws boys to it. girls are more thought to be cleaner whereas boy are more grungy. Although i do like it i would personally want more of a variety of colours.I like the way that the big image goes over onto the other page a bit as i think it looks different and allows the reader to look at who they are. I also like the highlighted comment in blue as it draws me straight to it. By reading that it gives me understanding of what the text is about. It also shows that there is not too much text to read so is more attractive for someone to want to read. Also with it being in two columns it looks better and neat and more appealing. I like how the bands name is in big bold letter as it draws me to it and shows who i am reading about. The picture has been well edited to match the colours of the other page with an old look. By having the band all dressing in old vintage clothes ties the pages together and by having the light colour of blue it bring in a modern touch. It has been set out neatly and doesn't look cluttered. The colour and set out of this page suits to the bands personality of music and it is the type of thing you would expect to see. Something that inspires me for my magazine from this would be having a quote in a colour that matches the rest of the page so it stands out and also looks good. They have both the page number and name of magazine at the bottom of the page in small writing. This will be because it isn't that important but people like it to be there.

I like this double page spread mainly because of the picture, it is very eye catching and also portrays the sort of music I'm looking at. I like the way the picture is used as a background over the left page but as a picture on the right. It makes it seem more like a poster. I really like the use of colour on this double page spread as they are quite plain but look sort of expensive and have the rock style. The black and white go together well as they really stand out. The white on the picture matches the white from the text so it goes well together. But by having the gold writing too makes it look more 'rocky' and makes certain bits stand out and also doesn't make the page look boring, it just gives it some character. Also it highlight the key names that people will recognise and more want to read it. Also by having more then one name widens the audience to who they may like they will read it no matter what. By having the words that Neil Young actually said makes it more appropriate to be about him and for people to have a better understanding of what it is going to be about. Even if people do not necessarily like Neil reading about his career makes an interesting article. By having him screaming and facing to the left seems as though he has to face to reality and doesn't like it as the reality is what is written on the left side of the double page spread. Also his type of music matches the colours and the way it is set out. This is because most of his music is quite calm but then he also has a crazy side in where the picture of him comes in. I like the use of a quotation as it looks effective and by one quotation you can guess or want to read more of what it is about. By having the page not very busy and not loads of writing on makes it look good to read and wouldn't scare the audience away with having lots of words. It shows this through by having only one column instead of the popular two, so it just looks as thought there is just a paragraph to read and not a whole story. I have also noticed that the first letter of the first sentence on the top paragraph seems to be massively larger than all of the other letters. It defiantly catches my eye and kind of makes me want to read on more to see what the 'big fuss' is about. The magazine seems to have the  page number at the bottom but not the name of the magazine which i think does not look very professionally. I have decided that on my magazine i will have both numbers and the name of my magazine at the bottom. The little paragraph at the bottom of the right page looks quite effective and i would naturally read it because it is a small amount of text and i would be interested to see if it is some sort of fact or another quote. It just seems to give out more information and variety on the page.

I like this double page spread because it seems to have a completely different kind of style and layout. The image on the left take up the whole of the page with having only a few words covering it. It gives it the sort of lazy teenage look as on the other magazine i have looked a just seem to be on their own with out any text on them. I think that this is defiantly more for a teenage boy audience because of the colours used and the way that it is set out. Also the image of the chilled out lazy young men on a bed shows more what teenage boys are like. Also the colours of blue more attract boys. There is a joke underneath the title saying 'young, dumb, and full of... filthy tunes' Normally people know what the next word comes after but they have changed it slightly to show more of a jokey side. The quotation that is with white writing and blue cover stands out as the size of the font is a lot bigger. having a small picture on the right hand side shows what the band does when performing too and give the audience more of an idea of what sort of music they may do. The text and colour of the text is good because it is bold and readable which makes it more appealing to read. The colour scheme to the is consistent for the headings and shows you so that the reader will want to read on more about it. I also like the black side bar as it gives it a sort of modern technical look t also shows other content so it makes the page allot more interesting to look at and read. By having the dramatic change in colour shows that it may be about something different and not about the band but little bits on the side that run in the same category. The little black sign on the left page saying 'NME loves' indicates that the magazine thinks its good so if the reader like the magazine and the magazine likes what the page is about the reader is more likely to read it and like it. By having it more as a busy page makes it more fun to read  and also by having the two columns doesn't look as though there is too much to read. Also by having the little facts at the bottom of the left page makes it look interesting and people are all for little bits of easy text that give them information.

Fashion.

Although i am having a male model i chose this picture as i liked the setting of where it is but also liked the style of a shirt. I think that the styles is like old rock  and is very in fashion at the moment. I also like the way that she has used a bag as a prop because it looks good.

In this image i like the way that the models hair has been styled and with the person that i am using as my model it shall be easy to do. Also the dark colours make him look more serious which i like. I prefer the image on the right as he is looking straight into the camera lense and it conects with the audience. Which my audience will relate too as my audience will be teenage girls or teenagers that are interested in acoustic type music.

Old rock (male)
The reason that i chose this image is because i like the way the model is sat as it looks quite manly and is in a old rock town style background. I also like the style of a plain top with a chequered shirt. Although i like the sunglasses in this picture i wouldnt want them in my picture as i would like the model to conect with the camera.

I chose this image for the picture on the right because i like the whole style of plain but tidy looking clothing with oldfashrioned but now modern type shoes. I really like the denim style shirt being lighter than the jeans as i think they go well together. Also having the male model carrying somthing makes them look good so in my picture i was thinking about having the model carry the acoustic guitar in one hand.

I also chose this picture for the image on the right as i loved the contrast of all the colours together! They type of shoe is nice and think ill go well with my style that i am going for, i also like the way the jeans are really dark and then there is a really bright colourd shirt.The colour of the shirt also drew me to the picture and it makes the image look fun. I like that the model is doing his own thing in this and makes the image look fun.


The model (male)
I have already sorted out of who my model is going to be which is Josh Douglas. We have already discussed the type of clothing we will need and the sort of makeup that shall be done. Also we have talked about different ways that he can use the prop in the image and also where we will be taking the images which will either be in a hours with a plain white backgroud. Or out on a nature park to get the more natural rock look.

Music artist infulence.

Newton Faulkner
I really like this artists style of fashion and his music. It is quite chill and easy to listen too, i also like him as it is the type of music i have been brought up with. I also like this picture as i like the acoustic guitar as a prop and also the black and white works well. This image has also given me many ideas for the picture that i will use for my front cover.

30SecondsToMars
Although i do not like their fashion personally, for the type of band it is it fits well. I like the look of this picture two as the background it really bright and they are in dark clothing so make them stand out more. Mostly i just like the type of music that they do as it is different.

Jack Johnson
I like this artist as he has very chilled out music and dresses quite summary. All of the colours seem to match together well am i like the style of thought that comes across. Also the use of an acoustic guitar in a picture make it look vintage but also modern at the same time as they are popular at the moment.

John Mayer
This style of music is also very chill and also his style is quite plain. I like this picture as the corner light makes me focus more on him as the artist. Although i like it in colour, i personally would prefer to do an image in black and white. This is because i think it looks a lot more professional and black and white is a popular look at the moment.

Neon Trees

I like this band as they are very upbeat and have a more of a quirky way in their songs and the way that they form as a band. I chose this particular picture as i liked that was it was multicoloured and they way the the animals merge in with the peoples faces. It shows that the band has character. 

Nickleback

The main reason for why i like this band is because they make a mixture of music, it is mainly rock but there is also more slow songs or chill songs. They are very popular and most people my age love them or have at least heard a couple of their songs. Although i am not too keen on their fashion style, the message that they put across is very good and are a nice group of people.

Olly Murs

I like this music because it is upbeat and quite happy music, i also love the fashion style as its quirky. I also like Olly Murs as it shows achievement of someone and this send out a good message.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers

The main reason for why i like this band is because i have been brought up around their style of music, but i also love their music as it is very different to most bands these days. Again i like this picture because i like the use of black and white and it also shows different personalities within the band by having some connect with the camera and some not.

My thoughts
I found that the main music that will be in my magazine will be a chill out acoustic setting. Also by looking at the images of the artists have decided that most likely my front cover picture will be in black and white and include an acoustic guitar as a prop.

Inspirations.

I like this as it is very different to most magazines and it stands out. It more interesting to look and to your eyes seems as though you can open it butit is just a front cover. This magazine is german.

I like this as it s very photography based and i focused a lot on the picture. There is also not that much going on, on the cover so it more draws me to what is on the front cover as there isnt loads to read.

I like this as the cover is not very busy but the picture on it is very bold and is also an interesting picture. Although there is not much colour the black and white works well as that is the sort of style that in in at the moment.

I like this as it is not somthing that you would expect to read or see on the front of a magazine. It looks quite old fashioned. It is also a dutch magazine and is very different looking to the kind of magazines i would see around in England.

I really like this one as i like the colours on it, they stand out but not too much. I also like the way they have used a well known cartoon on the face and it looks good and the coulor and font matches that cartoon chcaracter. It is more of a fun looking cover and would advertise more to teenage girls.

I like this as i like the way the colours work together and also how the title stands out. The model also seems to be laid back which brings the whole colours together as they are more happy chill colours. i also like the style of curvey writing at the bottom.

I like this as it is more artistic and also there is  not much writing which makes me focus on the picture more. I also like the syle fonts of the text and title.

I like this becuase i like the way balck and white is put together but then there is a splash of coulor which draws me to it.

I likw this as i like how all the colours wark together. I also really like the image on the front as there is an acoustic guitar but also it makes the magazine look more girly.
